“Two years have now passed since the killings. How should society deal with statements that threaten the coexistence of the nondisabled and disabled people? And how can it make genuine coexistence a reality? The Yomiuri Shimbun asked experts on the issue. The following are excerpts from the interviews.”
“After Sagamihara, the possibility of measures to forcibly hospitalize mentally ill people, has been actively debated, but Professor Ihara is concerned that mental health care will be used for crime prevention.”
An activity often seen at JR Sumiyoshi Station, Kobe is this: Jehovah’s Witnesses setting their stall out and often approaching the intellectually disabled.

“We have filed a lawsuit to inform the fact that people with disabilities are being oppressed, we want to reveal the essence and background of the problem at the trial so that the same things will not be repeated.”
“There are cases where welfare offices in Ishikawa prefecture cannot respond to the needs of users of helpers due to lack of guide helpers that support the mentally handicapped persons going out. The prefecture hopes to concentrate on weekends and so on. There are circumstances that there are not a few helpers who have different jobs such as group home staff.”
“In the appeal sentence, it is remarked that the incident highlighted that “the disabled people are not worth living” due to the idea of eugenic thought. The disability groups point out that this is not a thought unique to the accused in the Sagamihara massacre, Satoshi Uematsu:
“There was once the eugenic protection law in Japan too” ”
“If you understand people with disabilities through songs, I do not think events like Sagamihara will happen.”
