The spread of the new coronavirus has brought about great changes in the working environment for people with intellectual disabilities who work in welfare work areas. While there are some people with disabilities who have seen a drastic decrease in work orders and are forced to work at home without assistance staff, there are also people with disabilities who work hard to contribute to the local community by making masks.

Japan’s Welfare Ministry reports at least 630 disability welfare providers are making fraudulent claims

The disability welfare services that support the lives and employment of persons with disabilities that were in illegal receipt of national benefits through operating companies, came to at least about 2.63 billion yen in the fiscal years from 2014 to 2018, Kyodo News found in a local government survey.

After previous infractions, Hyogo Prefecture disability group files petition over disability parking spaces

“We want you to educate the government so that people who need support can use it. With this in mind, a group of persons with disabilities in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, applied for a petition to the city council, but the adoption was banned by the Standing Committee of the City Council Welfare Education on February 20th. In response to the imprisonment of a disabled person in 2018, Sanda City advocated the development of a symbiotic town, but did not conduct a fact-finding survey based on requests from the organization.”
