The Amagasaki Branch of the Kobe District Court has sentenced a former employee of a facility for the disabled in Nishinomiya City to two years and four months in prison on charges of assault and battery for abusing a resident.
The man is suspected of touching her body from the top of her clothes when a high school girl (16) was in a state of confusion at around 4 pm on May 31 in an apartment in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. She denies the charges, saying “she doesn’t remember.” The high school girl has a developmental disability and she had little awareness of what she was doing.
The Osaka District Public Prosecutor’s Office is collaborating with the Osaka Prefectural Police Department. The focus concerns victims of sex crimes with intellectual, and a senior prosecutor said, “The characteristics and degree of disability vary from person to person. We are carefully considering what method is appropriate.”
The trial in a murder case in which an elderly mother, who lived alone with her daughter who had a severe intellectual disability, will begin at the Tsu District Court on June 7th.
On May 3rd, the trial of Kumiko Kosaka, a Japanese nun, and nine others accused of aiding and abetting the sexual abuse at a Catholic deaf children’s home in Mendoza, Argentina, began at a court in Mendoza. According to the state-run news agency, Kosaka’s side asked for the case to be dismissed.
On April 7, the Arima Police Station of the Hyogo Prefectural Police arrested a 14-year-old male student on suspicion of attempted murder for attempting to kill a 25-year-old man at a facility for the intellectually disabled in Kobe City’s Kita Ward. The man is in a critical condition and unconscious.
The suspect is a long-term care worker in his 50s, and the victim woman had a physical disability, and the man was in charge of her long-term care.
According to investigators, it was suspected that he broke into an apartment room in Tokyo on March 3rd, threatened a visually impaired woman in her twenties, sexually assaulted her, and robbed her of about 25,000 yen in cash.
The suspect who is thirty-six years old, is a cook in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, who was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, was at a special support school in Asuka Village, where his eldest daughter, Nanako (10), who was in the fourth grade of elementary school, which she attended on the afternoon of the 12th. There is a suspicion that Nanako was kidnapped.
