Enthusiasm for Tokyo Games viewed by some as harassment

Tomoya Ito, a Paralympic athlete who will represent Japan in para athletics, also known as track and field, will use a new racing wheelchair incorporating Formula One technology.
Uematsu wasn’t the only one who said, “I hope there are no disabled people,” as some senior staff members clearly said, “The fact that they are kept alive is a waste of blood [sic] tax.”
According to a colleagues who knew Uematsu well, he was called ‘foolish Uematsu’ and was talked about behind his back in the workplace. One of them said, ‘If you’re made fun of so much at work, you’re bound to go crazy.”
According to a recently published article, Uematsu very diligently helped a male resident having an epileptic seizure in a bath in March 2015.
July 26th 2021 marks the five year anniversary of what is now often referred to as the ‘Sagamihara Stabbings’, when in the early hours of July 26th 2016, Satoshi Uematsu, a former employee of the ‘Tsukui Yamayuri En’ or ‘Tsukui Lily Garden’ care home for people with disabilites, killed 19 residents with disabilites and injured at least 26 others.
Members of the All Japan Council for the Visually Impaired, a group of visually impaired people, have inspected the dangers of JR Ochanomizu Station (Chiyoda Ward) and Yoyogi Station (Shibuya Ward), both of which have steps on the platform. At Ochanomizu Station, which does not have a platform door, they believe that people could fall off the platform.
“As a parent, I have no words to describe what my child has been through at school. What kind of nerve is it to make fun of that as an adult? It’s a dark joke that a song by someone like this should be played at the Paralympics. It could be traumatic. Even if it happened 27 years ago, it’s not acceptable.”
