The Shog-A.I. Shimbun Podcast #25: Fukuoka Prefecture Hospital says sorry for male staff sexually abusing patients, no further action taken

The president of National Hospital Organization Omuta National Hospital apologized on May 2 after confirming that male employees sexually abused patients who have severe mental and physical disabilities. The hospital has not taken any administrative action against the five employees who are suspected of abuse. The employees abused patients by stimulating their pubic areas while they were sleeping or being assisted in the bath, and touching female patients’ breasts.

35% of Chiba residents with disabilities “felt” human rights violations

The results of the prefectural government’s Internet survey revealed that 35.3% of Chiba residents answered that they “felt” human rights violations against the disabled, and more than one out of three people believe that there are human rights violations. 17.3% answered that they “felt” human rights violations against LGBT and other sexual minorities.

Kanagawa Man, 53, Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Mentally Disabled Woman Confesses Charges to Police

In October last year, prefectural police arrested a 53-year-old man for sexually assaulting a mentally disabled woman at a hotel in Asahi-ku, Yokohama.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of quasi-forcible sexual intercourse is a company employee living in Sobudai, Zama City. At the time, the suspect was a staff member of a continuous employment support facility in the prefecture, and the woman was using the facility.

The suspect has reportedly admitted to the charges to the police, saying, “there is no doubt.”
