“Hiroshima Abilympics” to Promote Employment of People with Disabilities Held

The Hiroshima Abilympics has been held in Hiroshima Prefecture and other countries since 2003 with the aim of promoting employment for people with disabilities.At the venue in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, 55 people, including students from special needs schools in the prefecture and people working at companies, participated. The participants were divided into eight events and competed.

Disability News Japan Podcast: Residents of Ishikawa Care Homes Unable to Use Toilet or Take a Bath

According to Ishikawa Prefecture, as of 10 a.m. on the 4th, damage such as water outages and power outages had been confirmed at around 120 elderly facilities in the prefecture, including special nursing homes and group homes.

Residents are not able to take a bath, and the toilets cannot be flushed, raising concerns about hygiene.

Central Japan Quake Death Toll Rises to 84

The death toll in the central Japan prefecture of Ishikawa from Monday’s powerful earthquake has risen to 84, the prefectural government said Thursday. 


There is information that one person has been swept away by a tsunami that occurred near a fishing port in the city of Suzu as a result of the earthquake, according to the Japan Coast Guard.

The death toll includes 48 in the city of Wajima and 23 in Suzu.
