YOKOHAMA – Princess Kako of Akishino, the second daughter of Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino, met with children with visual and other disabilities on Thursday.

At around 10 a.m., Princess Kako visited the Yokohama Kunmo Gakuin in Yokohama, where she observed classes in the school’s high school division.

The school is Japan’s only private special needs school for children with visual and other disabilities.

Greeting the students, Princess Kako said, “I’m Kako. Good morning. May I shake your hand? It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

According to her aides, the princess had hoped to visit the school after getting to know a parent and child who attend it.

During a music lesson, Princess Kako joined the students in an ensemble, playing the tambourine. Smiling, she told them, “I can see how hard you all work in your studies every day.”
