Multiple COVID clusters found at facilities for elderly and people with disabilities in Chiba Prefecture

Three new clusters were confirmed. There were 36 people at a facility for people with disabilities in Ichihara City, 9 people at a facility for the elderly in Isumi City, and 12 people at a facility for people with disabilities in Tako City.

CHIBA – In Chiba Prefecture, 18 people died of the new coronavirus and 4,419 new infections were found on the August 22nd. The number of infected people per day decreased by about 650 from Monday last week, falling below the same day of the previous week for the first time in four days. Previous announcements were withdrawn, bringing the total number of infected people in the prefecture to 789,187. Clusters were confirmed in various parts of the prefecture, including medical institutions in Chiba City and facilities for the disabled in Ichihara City.

The prefecture announced the deaths of 11 men and women in their 70s to 90s and over, and 2,495 new infections. Three new clusters were confirmed. There were 36 people at a facility for people with disabilities in Ichihara City, 9 people at a facility for the elderly in Isumi City, and 12 people at a facility for people with disabilities in Tako Town.
