Wages for disabled in Tochigi prefecture decreased for first time in 11 years in FY2020 to 16,405 Yen per month

The average monthly wage in FY2020 for persons with disabilities working at employment support facilities in Tochigi prefecture was 16,405 yen, down 5.3% (912 yen) from the previous year and the first decrease in 11 years, according to a report by the prefectural disability welfare department on 30 November.

TOCHIGI – The average monthly wage in FY2020 for persons with disabilities working at employment support facilities in Tochigi prefecture was 16,405 yen, down 5.3% (912 yen) from the previous year and the first decrease in 11 years, according to a report by the prefectural disability welfare department on 30 November. The new coronavirus caused a decrease in work orders and opportunities to sell products, resulting in a decrease below the 20,000 yen target set by the prefectural government.

A survey was carried out of 203 ‘support for continuous employment support type B establishments’ where people with disabilities who have difficulty finding general employment acquire work, there was a record of wage payments. Fifty-eight facilities (28.6%) exceeded the prefecture’s FY2020 target of 20,000 yen, while 65 facilities (32%) paid between 10,000-15,000 yen or less. The highest amount was 54,629 yen and the lowest was 1,163 yen.
