HYOGO – The number of people reporting mental disorders caused by workplace relationships and other circumstances is increasing.
In fiscal 2025, the number of workers’ compensation claims relating to mental disorders received by the Hyogo Labour Bureau reached 222, a record high.
This exceeded the previous year’s figure by 47 cases. It was the highest figure since the government began publishing prefecture-by-prefecture statistics in fiscal 2010, and the first time the total had exceeded 200.
Meanwhile, only 29 cases were approved for workers’ compensation payments in fiscal 2025. The threshold for recognition is high, and there are also cases in which people abandon their claims. Measures to provide relief are being sought.
