AMAGASAKI, Hyogo Prefecture – The city of Amagasaki announced Oct. 23 that it would revoke the licenses of two facilities operated by Lovely Care, a company based in the city’s Ohama-cho district, for improperly receiving about 51.9 million yen in public benefits without employing the staff required by law.
The company operates a Type B continuous employment support facility for people with disabilities and an after-school day service for children.
According to the city, Lovely Care failed to properly assign a service management supervisor and a child development support management supervisor, both of whom are legally required, for approximately three and a half years. Despite failing to meet these staffing requirements, the company continued to receive benefits without the required deductions.
The misconduct came to light following a city audit prompted by information received in September last year. The city also said the company made false declarations during the audit.
The revocations will take effect Dec. 1. Lovely Care has indicated that it will repay the city approximately 72.6 million yen, including additional charges, and seek alternative facilities for around 20 existing users.
