Matsuyama City, Ehime Pref – On the 12th, the Matsuyama Labour Standards Inspection Office referred a 63-year-old woman, the de facto representative of Godo Kaisha Slow, a company operating a disability welfare service facility in Nishi-Ishii, Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, to the Matsuyama District Public Prosecutors Office. The company and the woman are suspected of violating Japan’s Minimum Wage Act by failing to pay an employee’s wages.
According to the Labour Standards Inspection Office, the woman is suspected of failing to pay one employee’s wages for 10 of the 11 months between April 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025, leaving approximately ¥1.7 million (about US$11,500) in unpaid wages.
The Labour Standards Inspection Office declined to disclose whether the woman admits or denies the allegations, stating only that doing so could interfere with the investigation.
