SAITAMA – A man with a disability was allegedly assaulted three times and injured at a facility for people with disabilities in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, Saitama Prefectural Police has announced.
Investigators have learned that a former staff member at a facility for people with disabilities in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, has been arrested on suspicion of assault for allegedly attacking a man in his 20s with a disability on three occasions between 2021 and 2024, causing injuries to the man’s head, according to sources close to the investigation.
The suspect, a 42-year-old former employee of a facility for people with disabilities in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of causing injury.
According to investigators, the man is suspected of assaulting a male resident in his 20s with a disability at the facility on three occasions between 2021 and 2024, resulting in injuries.
At the time of the incidents, the man reportedly told other staff members that the injuries were the result of an “accident.” However, in January last year, a relative of another resident consulted police, leading to the discovery of the case.
The suspect has reportedly admitted to the charges, saying things like, “He wouldn’t do what I said, so I lost my temper and did it.”
Police have also found injuries at the facility that appear to have been caused by assaults on other residents during the period when the man was employed there. Authorities believe it is possible that the suspect routinely assaulted other residents as well and are continuing their investigation.
