TOKYO – The liquidator handling the liquidation process for the former Unification Church, which was served a dissolution order, announced that the organization’s total assets at the time of its dissolution in March of this year amounted to over 83.4 billion yen. This marks the first time the assets at the time of dissolution have been disclosed.

On the 22nd, the liquidator carrying out the liquidation process for the former Unification Church – officially known as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification – which received a dissolution order from the Tokyo High Court in March of this year, published their fourth report submitted to the court on their website.

According to the report, the total assets at the time of the church’s dissolution on March 4 stood at over 83.4 billion yen, revealing the organization’s assets at the time of dissolution for the first time.

While the church’s assets were reported to total approximately 104 billion yen in fiscal year 2024, this represents a decrease of over 20 billion yen compared to that period.

On the other hand, the liquidator, who had previously stated that at least 40 billion yen of the church’s cash and deposits had been secured as of last month, revealed that this amount has now increased to 45 billion yen.

The liquidator noted that “these figures are strictly based on the records kept by the church prior to its dissolution,” adding that the numbers are subject to change.

Furthermore, the liquidator disclosed that more than 250 real estate properties—including church facilities and parking lots—have been terminated and handed over. Regarding the status of claim filings for donation victims, 212 people have submitted applications in the roughly two months since filings opened in May.
