MIYAZAKI – Miyazaki City has revoked the designation of a service provider that supports preschool children with disabilities after it was found to have fraudulently received approximately 14 million yen in benefits from the city.
The provider subject to the revocation is “Porto,” located in Otsuka Town, Miyazaki City. According to the city, “Porto,” which operates a day-care support facility for preschool children with disabilities in Tsurushima, falsified documents over a two-year period from December 2021, when it received designation from the city, by making it appear as though nursing staff and childcare workers without actual work records were employed, and by falsely indicating that required staff had been assigned when they had not. Through these means, the operator received approximately 14 million yen in benefits from the city.
“Porto” has admitted the misconduct, and the city plans to demand full repayment of the benefits. The revocation of the provider’s designation will take effect on April 19, after which it will be barred from operating child development support services for five years.
