Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo – A 34-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a visually impaired man by kicking him with his foot in the multipurpose restroom at Jimbocho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line in Tokyo.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Ryuichiro Ikeda is suspected of kicking a visually impaired man in his 50s from behind with his foot in a multipurpose restroom at Jimbocho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line in Chiyoda Ward last month.
At the time, Ikeda was using the multipurpose restroom and was angry when the man’s white cane hit the door as he was waiting for the restroom to be vacated, so he exited the restroom and assaulted the man. The man was not injured.
When the man who was kicked turned around, Ikeda hid in the restroom and fled, but investigation of security cameras revealed his involvement.
The suspect Ikeda admitted to the investigation that he “felt rushed” and admitted to the charges.
