TOKYO – The statutory employment rate for people with disabilities in Japan was raised to 2.5% in April 2024, and a policy has been announced to make it 2.7% in fiscal 2026.
Every year, Toyo Keizai publishes a ranking of the employment rate of people with disabilities. This time, Toyo Keizai ranked 1,198 companies that employ three or more people with disabilities in fiscal 2022 out of the 1,714 companies listed in the 2024 edition of the “CSR Company Directory (Employment and Human Resources Utilization Edition)”.
The 2024 edition of the “CSR Company Directory (Ranking & Counting Edition)” also lists the top 800 companies in the ranking. In addition, the e-book “Toyo Keizai CSR Data eBook 2024: Disability Employment Initiatives Edition” lists not only the employment rate of people with disabilities, but also information on the presence or absence of special subsidiaries and each company’s efforts to employ people with disabilities for 1,653 companies (the amount of information varies depending on the company). We hope you will make use of the ranking and detailed information together.
In the 2024 edition, UNIQLO’s parent company, ‘Fast Retailing’ is in 9th place with 4.92%. It employs 1,167 people, saying it has set a goal of “employing at least one person with disabilities per store.”
