OSAKA – The Japanese government said Tuesday that it has found a total of 15,907 mistakes in linking information to My Number personal identification numbers.

The mistakes include 7,553 cases of incorrect linkages of health insurance data discovered separately from the comprehensive inspection, the Digital Agency said.

On December 12th, the Osaka Prefectural Government announced that, as a result of the comprehensive inspection following a series of problems with the My Number system, it had found a total of eight cases of errors in which information relating to a prefectural resident’s disability certificate was linked to the My Number of another person. At the request of the national government, information on approximately 70,000 diaries had been investigated by the end of November. No leakage of personal information has been confirmed.

According to the prefectural government, the information on the disabled person’s handbook was linked to another person’s My Number on the server that manages residents’ personal information with the national government. This was due to the fact that the staff member in charge at the prefecture failed to carry out the appropriate correction process.

The MyNa Portal allowed this other person to view the information on the handbook, but there is no record of any of this information being viewed.

On the same day, the prefectural government also announced that it had discovered two cases of errors in linking the information on the handbook to another person’s My Number, triggered by procedures such as the renewal of a disabled person’s handbook. In these two cases, there was no leakage of personal information.

The government said it has completed personal identification checks for 82.06 million of the 82.08 million My Numbers subject to inspection.
