TOKYO – The Tokyo Skytree in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, was among landmarks in Japan and abroad that were lit in purple on Thursday ahead of the opening of the Tokyo Paralympic Games on Tuesday.
The illumination was part of WeThe15, a global campaign launched by the International Paralympic Committee and other organizations to raise awareness of the 15% of the world’s population who have disabilities.
