ALS Assisted Dying Disability Japan

“Attachment to life is not always beautiful” writes the late Yuri Hayashi, ALS patient

Attachment to life is not always beautiful. I feel love and a beautiful soul only when I face the problem of life, struggle, and keep crying. I got an opinion.

The Kyoto District Public Prosecutors Office on Thursday August 13 indicted two doctors for allegedly killing a woman with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an intractable disease, at the victim’s request.

The deceased, a woman aged 51 named Yuri Hayashi, ran a blog and a Twitter account.

Following her post on September 23 2018 titled ‘Beautiful soul’, on September 26 2018 made a post titled “The difficulty of denying “living”:

The difficulty of denying “living”

“Beautiful soul” that I wrote the other day.

I received some comments from several people and noticed again.

Attachment to life is not always beautiful. I feel love and a beautiful soul only when I face the problem of life, struggle, and keep crying. I got an opinion.

Thinking that I am trying to escape from the suffering of illness, that I am not obsessed with life, I am a weak and useless person,

I thought that I hadn’t escaped the guilt and guilt of choosing “death” yet.
