Authorities say about 260 people are stranded in a nursing home in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, due to a flood.

Police and fire officials say the Oppe River overflowed and flooded the Shimo-osaka district in the city of Kawagoe.

They are using boats to rescue seniors and staff members stranded in the Kawagoe Kings Garden nursing home.
