Sapporo caregiver arrested for alleged injury to resident at disability support facility

SAPPORO – A 29-year-old care worker was arrested on September 3, on suspicion of injuring a man in his 30s at a support facility for people with disabilities located in Kita Ward in Sapporo City, Hokkaido.

According to the police, at 7:40 pm on August 28, the suspect held and dragged both legs of a 30-year-old man in the facility, bruising and scratching his knees.

The information about this incident was sent anonymously to Sapporo City Hall and the police conducted an investigation. According to police investigation, the suspect stated that “the man was incontinent and angry…but it was not good for the person to leave. ” and admitted the charges.

Police are also investigating abuse and assault on other residents.
