TOKYO — The organizing committee for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games said Thursday that online lottery applications for tickets for the Olympics by people living in Japan will be received from 10 a.m. on May 9th.
Applications will be accepted until May 28, and the results of the lottery will be announced on June 20. The deadline for purchasing the tickets will be July 2.
Going on sale will be tickets for general audience, tickets for wheelchair users and accompanying people, and special tickets costing ¥2,020 apiece for groups including children or elderly people, or people with disabilities.
Each person will be able to apply for up to 60 tickets, and a maximum of 30 tickets will be secured.
Five price ranges have been set for the general tickets, with tickets for the opening ceremony on July 24, 2020, costing from ¥12,000 to ¥300,000, and the prices of tickets for the Aug. 9 closing ceremony ranging from ¥12,000 to ¥220,000.
Lottery applications and ticket purchases can be completed on the official ticketing website opened on Thursday.
People wishing to buy tickets will need to register for identification on a designated website.
