Tokyo, Aug. 25 (Jiji Press)–Japanese government agencies are projected to have padded the number of people with disabilities they claimed to have employed by over 3,000, informed sources said Saturday.

The figure accounts for more than half of some 6,900 disabled people reported as being hired by the government agencies as of fiscal 2017, which ended in March, the sources said.

The government is set to report details at a meeting of relevant ministers on Tuesday. It plans to compile preventive measures by October.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe instructed labor minister Katsunobu Kato on Friday to act swiftly to address the issue.

Companies and government agencies in Japan are required by law to employ certain percentages of disabled people.
