KANAGAWA – Kanagawa Prefecture has set up a consultation desk for companies to address issues related to helping employees with disabilities remain in the workplace. Specialists such as certified social workers with expertise in disability employment will respond to concerns like: “An employee with a disability often takes days off, but we don’t know what the problem is,” or “They seem troubled by workplace relationships, how should we respond?”

Companies can seek advice by phone, through an inquiry form, via online meetings, or in person at consultation booths. When necessary, experts can also be dispatched to workplaces. By having them directly observe the working environment, companies can receive more practical and tailored advice.

Until now, the prefecture has mainly promoted the hiring of people with disabilities through the Kanagawa Prefectural Center for the Promotion of Employment of Persons with Disabilities. With the addition of this new consultation service, the prefecture aims to support companies both in hiring and in retaining employees with disabilities.
