“Gathering to Commemorate Disabled Persons Week” Event to be Held in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo on December 7th 2024

Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo – December 3rd to December 9th every year is Disability Week. The Disabled Persons Week was established by the Basic Act for Persons with Disabilities to promote interest and understanding of welfare of persons with disabilities among the public at large, and to promote active participation of persons with disabilities in activities in all fields.

Shinagawa Ward also focuses on efforts to deepen understanding of people with disabilities during this period. 

Every year, Shinagawa Ward holds a “Gathering to Commemorate Disabled Persons Week” with the hope that as many people as possible will become aware of Disabled Persons Week and that they will take an interest in the welfare of people with disabilities. 

This year, the event will be held at Kyurian again. 

Date & Time 

Saturday, December 7, 2024, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

(Doors open at 0:15 p.m.) 

Location 

Shinagawa Ward General Kumin Kaikan Kyurian 8F Large Hall (5-18-1 Higashioi, Shinagawa-ku) 

(3 minutes walk from JR Oimachi Station of Keihin Tohoku Line and Tokyu Oimachi and Rinkai Line)

Part 1: Pop violinist with cerebral palsy 

Talk and live performance by Shikimachi Mizuki, “Barrier-free Heart: Healing Tones” 

Part 2: Presentation by organizations for the disabled 

From the opening to the closing of the show, the following are also planned. 

　　Sales of voluntary products by facilities for persons with disabilities (confectionery, handicrafts, products made by facilities, etc.)
