KOBE – On July 3, the Supreme Court will hand down its decision on a lawsuit in which victims have demanded compensation from the government, claiming that forced sterilization under the former Eugenic Protection Law was in violation of the Constitution. Will the grief of those who were branded as “defective” because of their disabilities and deprived of the right to bear and raise children reach them?
One of the plaintiffs in the five lawsuits being heard by the Grand Bench is Yumi Suzuki (68) of Kobe City, who has congenital cerebral palsy, speaks in the video below:
