Awareness Raising Activities Held at JR Toyama Station for ‘Disabled Persons Week’

TOYAMA – On the morning of the 4th, in conjunction with Disabled Persons Week, an awareness campaign was held at Toyama Station to promote understanding of welfare for persons with disabilities.

“Disabled Persons Week” is stipulated by law to promote understanding of welfare for persons with disabilities and support for social participation of persons with disabilities, and various awareness-raising activities are held throughout the prefecture from December 3rd to 9th.

At Toyama Station on the morning of December 4th, members of prefectural organizations for people with disabilities and prefectural employees handed out pocket tissues for awareness and called for understanding among station users.

The tissues were accompanied by illustrations drawn by junior high school students in Imizu City and magnets handmade by people with disabilities, and a total of 1,200 sets were distributed.

Eiji Fuo, chairman of the Toyama Prefecture Physically Disabled Welfare Association, said, “When a friend with a disability asks for help, please help them.Through educational activities like this, we hope to create a cohesive society where we can respect each other.” I was talking.

In conjunction with “Disability Week,” Toyama City is also planning an exhibition of art works created by people with disabilities, as well as essays and posters written by children on the theme of disabilities.
