JAPAN – According to the Japanese Government, Society 5.0 is a “human-centered society that achieves both economic development and the resolution of social issues through a system that highly integrates cyberspace (virtual space) and physical space (real space).

It refers to a new society that follows the hunting society (Society 1.0), the agricultural society (Society 2.0), the industrial society (Society 3.0), and the information society (Society 4.0), and is what Japan should aim for in the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan. It was first proposed as a vision of future society.”
