Disability News Japan Podcast: Disabled People in the Workplace Experienced 600 Cases of Financial Abuse, 47 Verbal Abuse and 24 of Physical Abuse in FY2022

JAPAN – By types of abuse, 600 people suffered financial abuse, an increase of 180 from the previous year. Psychological abuse such as verbal abuse and discrimination occurred in 47 cases, followed by physical abuse such as assault in 24 cases. If more than one type of abuse is recognized for an individual, each is accounted for separately.

In terms of specific damage, there were cases where people were paid less than the local minimum wage, and cases where people suffered burns when a gas burner was pressed against their arms.
