Whilst visiting Niigata Prefecture, the Emperor and Empress visited a facility for people with disabilities called the “Niigata Fureai Plaza” on September 17th and met the residents.

The facility has four complex facilities, including a rehabilitation center for persons with disabilities. Both the Emperor and Empress saw how disabled people work on their rehabilitation, and then watched as the disabled residents; along with elementary school, junior high and high school students, created a traditional giant octopus and talked together.
